It's still fully interoperative, the OpenID comment functions there are good and improving, and I can follow everything from both sites easily.

I am, as I'm sure is well, a remarkably modest man. I would, for example, never dream of having a category tag for my journal called 'showing off', for that would be vulgar. And that the most popular item under discussion in the most recent news post, and being linked to and discussed all over the site is my idea is, of course, something that merely provokes a modest smile.

For I am a humble and modest man. Right?

I knew what post it was before I opened it, but it was nice to be sure. So that's two fixes from one suggestion.

I'm still of the opinion that the concerns about trolls editing comments are missplaced, but those that run LJ abuse disagreed--we've come up with a way to get around the problem. I reserve the right to bitch about them messing up MY idea with poor implementation, but, y'know. I rock!

Oh, had a great night out, met nwhyte in the Melton Mowbray and talked SF geekery and politics with a bunch of people, was rather nice. Time to sleep now methinks.

Um, I don't know how to react to this. paulatpingu asks So how much do you know about American civic history?

On this quiz I scored 66%, which would place me in one of the top three American Universities when the same quiz was carried out there. Basically, even though I know very little about the specifics of US history, my general knowledge on the subject is better than most American college students.

Now, admittedly, some of the questions are about political theorists (Plato and Locke, for example), which both of us studied as undergrads. But, um, it's mostly about United States history and governance. From the breakdown of results by US college (they tested students in the Senior year):

I, a Brit, score better in a test of US history, than the average senior at Harvard, the premier US university? And despite temptation, no googling, no look ups, just general knowledge and educated guesses.

I know there are smart, capable, switched on USians out there--a chunk of them are on my friends list. But seriously, if even the most educated know so little about their own history and system of government...

Catching up, thanks for all the supportive comments during my travels yesterday, brain is now slowly waking back up

I reckon my worthy friends list could take that test and bump the avarages up a bit, right? Good good.

Went to oldharrysgame recording last night after work, was good, weirdly, episodes 4 & 6 were recorded, not 3&4, cast availability or something (Gina's full report here. Day off today, have a job interview for a permanent job later, looks good on paper. Might write full report for last night on the community this afternoon/evening. Or I might just do something else, not sure.

Except, of course, I don't have a High School diploma (and indeed just scraped a pass on one A-level). OK, I've got a BA, but I cheated to get into that (it's amazing what being old can get you, even if old is defined as over 25).

I, um, might be playing around with that site for a bit. Beats most of the others things I should be doing.

Tomorrow? Exeter, if I get up, to play silly game's at Steve's with Peter Pig. If I wake up. Oh, I also need to clean and tidy the flat, as it'll be the last chance between now and when I get back from nadriel's. Two weeks holiday in one month? Yay! Must remember to buy tickets for those events.

Also, on the quiz thing? A few of the questions are US specific. Sorry, but knowing which Amendment does not isn't a History question, it's a Constitutional Theory and practice Q. I mean, I got that answer right anyway, but, y'know, I would've got a better score if the questions weren't aimed at one populace. Cos I is ded smart, see?

Right, works outing on Sunday; I'm not going, but there was an internal quiz, the winner of which gets a £20 bet on the horses. They're all going to Newton Abbot racecourse for races this Sunday.

Half the questions were stats or company history, the rest were easy. Um, guess who wrote the company history marketing bumpf? Guess who does most of the annual stats analysis?

So, even though I'm not going, I get to place a bet on Sunday, my instructions are:

£20 to be placed on a nag of your choosing. If you don't have a race list, you could place your bet by proxy or choose a race number and name the favourite / second favourite (number 3) etc.

So, if anyone knows what form is, or how to choose a horse, or even what websites I could look at to figure out who is racing, etc?

Ms itchyfidget is more emotionnally intuitive but less scientifically intuitive than me*. She also has a better tag for this sort of thing, egocentrism beats showing off any day. doctorvee however is the other way around. Not sure about this one, but it's better than most of the recent ones I've done.
