i've been watching this group for a few weeks and it seems like most questions are mostly student/visa related.
excuse me for making a huge generalization but why would anyone want to come to england anymore???
i've just sent in my set(O) application for ILR which has taken me 5 long years of working for the NHS to get...as some know in 2006 the requirements increased from 4 to 5 years, the fee jumped from about £300 to £750 (by post) and they've added the life in the UK test, admittedly not a biggie but just another sign that maybe we aren't wanted here anymore?
and wait til the end of 2008-early 2009 when all the details of the new points based system is rolled out....
maybe it's just the total lack of summer/sun this year, i had to put my heat on a least once in july and august!!!....my first/only visit to the states in april... the last few days of torrential downpours.... or receiving a cost of living increase that doesn't even begin to cover the actual rising cost of living..... but i am wondering why i ever came and more often wishing i could sell my house and move back to the states which is highly unlikely since the housing market is dead right now...
anyway, i'm not here to slag off the UK...i know things are tough in the US also, but i am really hoping some of the other folks here can try to remind me of what's good about england...maybe a fresh, young set of eyes can remind me of why i came here in the first place...to work as a nurse and learn about nationalized healthcare....for one year!
thanks!
