Brain fried—send aircon

Aten't Dead
Those of you enjoying this supposedly "glorious" weather? Spare a thought for those of us that just cannot function in this heat. At all.

Notwithstanding the photic sneeze reflex making going outside (and even driving) a little annoying, the massively high risk of skin cancer groups I'm in from both sides of my family, my brain just seizes up when it's this hot.

I moved to the North to get away from this sort of weather damnit!

I have 7 tabs open for a post about the elections coming up on Thursday. It would be a glorious, erudite marvel of exposition explaining the system, the policies, the psephology and possibly, y'know, some options (as well as a withering critique of the godawful system Labour forced on us for counting votes)[1]. But I can't. Have a YouTube vid about why the EU Parliament is REALLY IMPORTANT, Andrew's post about UKIP racism, a Guardian article by the Lay Scientist about the anti-science policies of the Greens (I know not all Greens are anti-science, but that's the policy platform and we have to vote for parties in this one) and finally a link to the guy who got me to take blogging seriously, this one on the whole X% of our laws come from Brussels lies that UKIP peddle with no substance whatsoever. Reading the rest of his recent posts is probably a plan.

Coherence might happen tomorrow, if I a) get some sleep and b) have a good brain day.

In the meantime, if you're registered to vote in London and haven't decided yet, it's possibly the only region where a specific vote can be fore a specific person and get that person elected. Jonathan Fryer only just missed scraping in on 2nd quota in 2004. Jonathan's a top bloke, I met him several times while in London, he bought me beer and is bloody sound on the issues. I don't live in London anymore, but he's so close to scraping in, if you're not sure, etc, vote for him? In the rest of the country? Party lists, so look at the manifestos, use one of the votematch survey thingies, and just go vote. It really does actually matter.

Sorry, I said my brain was fried, right?

In the meantime, [info] - personalmiss_s_b dragged me to B&Q today so she could buy more plant pots and stuff to put in them. We got more basil, rocket, oregano and other useful stuff. She also bought a chilli plant. It's a chilli that'll burn your mouth off at 50 paces. It's sat next to her at her computer desk as it needs to be brought in at night.

She's called it George.

I'm doomed.
[1]Honest, it would be.

It's about 20F warmer and getting humid here so I was VERY glad when I got home that they'd repaired our air conditioning.

My brother once attempted to make spaghetti sauce with habeneros. He put just one in and had to add tons and tons of tomatoes to get it to something edible. I think he ended up with a gallon or so of the sauce and I still couldn't take the level of spice.

I haven't slept properly in three nights because of this stupid heat. And we seem to have it for an extra day today whilst the rest of the country gets some respite. Which is understand what with being down south, but still GAH!

Thank you though for proving there are people out there that hate this awful weather. I'm so fed up of *everyone* telling me how glorious the weather is and seeing BBC weather people pracitcally in tears that 'Summer is almost over!' now it's getting a tad cooler...

I'd send you my aircon unit, but I need it.
When its getting near 50 out, 26 degrees feels cool.

Introspection

I'm Mat Bowles, a Devonshire lad displaced to Yorkshire. I'm a part-time analyst, marketer and website manage, although mostly I'm a house-husband.

Wikio - Top BlogsThis is my personal general interest journal where I write about or link to whatever I've fond that amused, intrigued or enraged me at the time. I'm a committed liberal, equalist and atheist, but I really like it when people can demonstrate I'm wrong, and have close friends with whom I completely disagree on some if not all of those points.

There probably ought to be a Creative Commons licence in here somewhere but in the meantime consider this permission to quote me (link) & link to what I write.

If you decide to keep reading, please do say hello, let me know where you found me from, etc. I promise not to bite (well, unless you want me to...)
