A lot of Tories think the preferential voting system means elections are stolen. If Boris had one on first prefs but lost on transfers, he'd be the "legitimate" winner, they pulled this trick during the last Euro elections a lot.

Given that my biggest single issue that matters is getting a proper preferential voting system, idiots misrepresenting it really annoy me. Turns out I was wrong, but by slow slim a margin it actually mattered.

Given that I know a little about heavy vehicle Mechanics I'm trying to work out how Boris's proposed Routemaster is going to work...

I'll have to do a geek post on this...

From what I've seen, it simply doesn't work. But that's irrelevent—a key point is, IMHO, Boris wasn't expecting or even hoping to win, and while Cameron is obviously pleased with the result, I suspect he's now shitting himself that Boris will mess up somewhere.

Hence the bendy bus/routemaster thing—a headline grabbing populist policy that didn't need any grounding in reality as it was only there to get attention. Ah well.

Yep, Plays on the Evening Standard's Hatred of them (not helped by them being Mercedes and un-'British'). Thing is you will not fit the number of people into a decker as you will an artic, and a decker would be slow to load... Yes more passengers will have a seat, but more will also be left standing at the bus stop...

Introspection

I'm Mat Bowles, a Devonshire lad displaced to Yorkshire. I'm a part-time analyst, marketer and website manage, although mostly I'm a house-husband.

Wikio - Top BlogsThis is my personal general interest journal where I write about or link to whatever I've fond that amused, intrigued or enraged me at the time. I'm a committed liberal, equalist and atheist, but I really like it when people can demonstrate I'm wrong, and have close friends with whom I completely disagree on some if not all of those points.

There probably ought to be a Creative Commons licence in here somewhere but in the meantime consider this permission to quote me (link) & link to what I write.

If you decide to keep reading, please do say hello, let me know where you found me from, etc. I promise not to bite (well, unless you want me to...)
