So, Doctor Who then...

OMG
Look! I get to make a reaction post. It's the first time I've had access to a TV for an initial broadcast for, well, since before they brought it back. So, in the absence of anything constructive to actually say, I thought I'd poll it good:
Poll #957738 Smith and Jones

I liked it. It was nice, straightforward, fun. Let's see if they can maintain it into Bill Shakespeare's England. Hmm, I have the perfect icon for a post that mentions Bill.

ETA: [info]who_daily, here:
Oh, and because this is my first go, and it's taken me fricking HOURS, and Horatio Must Be Appeased... I'm totally going to abuse the Editor's Choice and pick [info]matgb's reaction poll. Because, you know, polls are good. And I want to see more people voting for Freema's arse.
*Suspects this might get the most votes I've ever had in a poll*

Well, y'know, I did base the Q's off your post, so...

Laurence has voted a new screwdriver as a good thing. Ah well, maybe it'll go wrong in the next episode.

What's the question? Didn't hear him say smeg, but wasn't paying too much attention to detail anyway.

NTS: link to comment, not entry.

He hasn't answered yet, and actually? Might not at all. He's a bugger for not answering comments. But, you know, forgive him for writing fantastic Six. ♥

Yeah, a lot of people don't seem to reply to comments. And some of them then complain they don't get many comments. and other people never talk to commenters, always post to the bottom, which always annoys me, talk to your friends friends, much more fun especially if they might be cute.

...and then wonder why nobody notices they've said something.

I see Martha's arse had EXACTLY the same effect on us both, then? ;)

Having a screwdriver is good, but it would have been better if he didn't find a replacement until a good three or four episodes in. There's probably some technicality that means it wouldn't be possible though...

Maybe The Doctor has a cupboard stash full of them in the Tardis?

or he went to the planet Screwfix?

Not wishing to go into any depth about it -a quick look at my userpics will tell you I'm not as much a fan of Doctor Who as a few others I could care to name- his proof of travelling back in time at the end might have been where he got the screwdriver back from? No doubt I'm hopelessly wrong about that.

I thought it was a reasonably good episode. It didn't wow me, but it showed promise. If the rest of the series is of that quality, then I'll probably get bored. But then, first episode of a new series, had to introduce the new companion, it was never going to be an absolute wow episode. And I think that what it did, it did reasonably well. So I'm optimistic.

Yeah, pretty much sums up my opinion, it shows potential, and potential is good.

Watched it sitting around with several people not bothered about what was happening asking questions such as "who's he?","should they kiss?" and "what's with all the running about?" throughout it. It did manage to keep my attention though and was pretty straightforwards in line with other first episodes of the series. We'll see where they go with the next few but my plans for Saturday nights will be amended for the next 12 weeks.

The running about helped make it I think, it's what the Doctor does.

I'm looking for the poll that got metaquoted, but it is eluding me, but this is already tipping past any others I can recall apart from that one.

But yeah, weird people, liking the magic get out of everything plot device.

Although, generally? Oddness is something I like.

Found it:
http://matgb.livejournal.com/61750.html

71 votes it looks like, so we've a way to go yet. Still, we're at 51 already, and one brave soul has said they didn't like it, so I suspect we're going to beat that one...

*is having similar thoughts*

Polls are always good. 100+ votes in a poll on l'il ol' me's journal? That's just freaky. Nice icon BTW, very cool.

Let's be brutally honest, I'd be ticking "good" here for anyone's arse.
[info]matgb wrote:

You do know you don't actually have to tick either box, right?

Scarily, a poll aimed as an in joke for one specific person has had more votes than I've ever had before. Still, it did amuse said person, so objective acheived.
