Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown 2007 - Jarvis will be the director of this years Meltdown Festival at the SouthBank centre. Y'see this? This is a Mat very happy he moved to London.

YouTube - Unicorn vs. Narwhal. Via [info]tyrell and [info]kobold almost at the same time; very very cool.

Man cleared of murder by TV comedy gets LA pay-off - seriously, his alibi was proven when his lawyer went through some crowd scene out takes after five months in jail.

And via Debi and Katy, again right next to each other on the friends page, Shaggy Blog Stories: a collaborative blog-stunt for Comic Relief. Go through your archives for a funny post from the last year, and send a link to it to Mike, or re-write it, edit it up, and send it. He aims to have an entire book ready to go to print by next Wednesday. Yes, the man is mad, but, y'know...

And finally, some good suggestions in my poll of yesterday, a few more and I'll do a run off. Ruling out [info]raggedhalo's suggestion though, [info]chickenyoghurt did that one already...

Yeah, you independently came up with the same idea as one of my favourite satirists, you unoriginal unfunny man you.

I'm very temtped by [info]0ct0pus's 'Mark Thomas not funny any more' suggestion, because that'd be silly.

LOL possibly I've not mentioned it to you. I go every year, and there's a bunch of people coming to visit and stuff...

Still, there's only a couple of days overlap. Because, you know, I'd quite like to see some of Jarvis's artistic directions too.

Ah yeah; I think you may actually have mentioned it, in a "you must come visit" kinda way, when we were in Camden. It does look like something worth trying to get up for.

I'd quite like to see some of Jarvis's

artistic directions too.
Oh, so that's what it's called now is it ;-)

Well, I got right to the front in Hull and he sang most of Mishapes right into my face and then blew me a kiss, but I'm not sure he'd remember me...

something worth trying to get up for

I'm sure I could squeeze you in somewhere ;)

That stand-up economist is all kinds of awesome.

And yeah, I got the Unicorn thing from [info]kobold :)

I wondered, but the posts were right next to each other on my friends list so thought it could be random chance. And yes, economist very cool, nearly forgot about it, this post was due two days ago when the router crashed :-(

I'm thinking London internet connections are jinxing us...

Hi! Sorry! I'm investigating via SB's journal.

I just find the Mankiw thing rather hilarious. Mankiw was my economics prof last semester and it's just so true!

*little snicker*

MY economics knowledge is mostly secondary, I learnt the basics when learning game theory/rational choice as part of my political theory BA, but yeah, it's a pretty good summary; I check his blog out every so often, but there are so many out there.

I'm guessing I should expect to get used to drive by comments from her friends lis if she keeps saying nice things about me; 'tis all a bit weird. Nice, but weird.

Heh. That's a fact. Especially if they're all college students like me, always searching for more ways to procrastinate.

As for Mankiw...his blog is beyond hilarious. His car's license plate is "Ec 10" (our intro-to-economics class) and he brought his son to lecture once. HILARIOUS. Much too conservative, of course (as most economists are), but HILARIOUS nonetheless.

Introspection

I'm Mat Bowles, a Devonshire lad displaced to Yorkshire. I'm a part-time analyst, marketer and website manage, although mostly I'm a house-husband.

Wikio - Top BlogsThis is my personal general interest journal where I write about or link to whatever I've fond that amused, intrigued or enraged me at the time. I'm a committed liberal, equalist and atheist, but I really like it when people can demonstrate I'm wrong, and have close friends with whom I completely disagree on some if not all of those points.

Coalition For Choice

There probably ought to be a Creative Commons licence in here somewhere but in the meantime consider this permission to quote me (link) & link to what I write.

If you decide to keep reading, please do say hello, let me know where you found me from, etc. I promise not to bite (well, unless you want me to...)
